Food Insecurity in Our Communities

assortment of healthy food on a plate

Join Jane Cunningham, Public Health Nutritionist, to learn about the root causes of food insecurity, dispel some common myths, understand the current situation in Nova Scotia and the Tri Counties, and discuss strategies to improve food security in our community. Food security is achieved when all individuals have both physical and economic access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences. Food insecurity is when individuals or households lack reliable access to adequate food due to financial constraints. Tackling food insecurity involves addressing underlying issues such as poverty, unequal distribution of resources, and barriers to food access. This is in partnership with Nova Scotia Health.
