Interlibrary Loan Services

Interlibrary Loans is a service Western Counties Regional Library provides to our library patrons in co-operation with other lending libraries.

To request to borrow an item not found in our catalogue through interlibrary loan, please contact your local branch.

The loan period for interlibrary loans is set by the lending library (and may be less than 4 weeks). Some libraries may not loan new or popular items and may charge for interlibrary loan services. Upon approval, any interlibrary loan fees will be passed on to the library patron. There may be charges for photocopies.

Interlibrary loan materials cannot be renewed through your Library Account. To renew an interlibrary loan please email the Interlibrary Loan Department or contact your local branch library at least one week before the item is due. If you have any overdue interlibrary loans, or are not a member in good standing, other interlibrary loans may not be processed until your account is cleared.

Services for Persons with Print Disabilities

Who can use this service?

Our service for Persons with Print Disabilities is for anyone who is unable to read, or who has difficulty reading, regular print material because of a visual, physical or perceptual disability.

What special materials are available at Western Counties Regional Library?

In addition to the Large Print books, Audiobooks, and eBooks available to all users from our regular collection, persons with print disabilities can register with the library to receive free access to an expanded collection of accessible books in various formats through our partners, Centre for Equitable Library Access (CELA) and National Network for Equitable Library Service (NNELS). Library branch clerks can put you in contact with our Headquarters staff to assist you in registering and receiving this service.

Staff Assisted Selection

Staff is available to assist with selection of books or audiobooks based on a patron’s preferences. This can be a one-time consult or an ongoing service provided to patrons who prefer to have staff supply them with relevant authors and titles.
