Exploring Cultural Roots Through Music: Julia Tynesadultkidsteen
Join award-winning African Nova Scotian singer-songwriter Julia Tynes for an interactive music experience full of singing, learning, and joyful expression.
With her signature energy and soulful vocals, Julia leads children and families on a musical journey. Listen to classics like “Rockin’ Robin,” kid-friendly Motown hits, and today’s pop anthems by artists like Taylor Swift. Participants can clap along, move their bodies, and sing out loud as they explore melody, groove, and performance.
This program introduces audiences to the rich cultural roots of pop through soul, jazz, and rock and roll. It celebrates the lasting contributions of Black artists throughout history. Julia also shares a few of her own original songs and stories, to empower everyone to use their voices and build confidence through music. Whether you’re a toddler, a tween, or just young at heart, come ready to sing, dance, and shine!
This program is in partnership with the Province of Nova Scotia's Department of Communities, Culture, Tourism and Heritage.
