DESCRIPTION:Join Shelley Goodwin for an engaging presentation on things to consider when traveling solo. No matter what type of traveller you are, there is always something to learn as you embark on an adventure.  She will discuss:\n\nways to keep yourself safe\nhow to keep your valuables secure\nhow to remain comfortable as you navigate the globe\n\nShelley will also talk about things to consider before you book the trip, before you leave home, and as you explore each day.\nAbout Shelley\nWith her diverse background, she is not your typical travel presenter. Initially, she travelled with friends, family, and colleagues; she now mainly travels solo. Her last trip in April and May was 55 days circumnavigating Africa. Her urge to see the world started early and endured. Her first career as a police officer with the RCMP offered an opportunity to gain international travel experience. While working in BC, she spent 3 years working airside (behind the passenger screening checkpoint access). This work experience gave her an understanding in air transportation security and safety.\nHer second career as a psychologist allowed her to travel in North America and Africa, where she volunteered with the International Learning Partner Program. It provided her with an understanding of some of the challenges we face when embarking on solo adventures.\nShelley has been to 72 countries and all 7 continents.  In the past year, she has explored Southeast Asia, China, and Oceania. She has kayaked in the Antarctic. She has hiked the Portuguese Camino de Santiago. Lastly, she has travelled in the Uganda rainforest to see chimpanzees and mountain gorillas.\n
